1. Fortress restoration is supplied ETCHED.
  2. Apply SILANE coupling agent.
  3. Place retraction cords to prevent seepage into gingival margins. Avoid using hemostatic agents containing iron or aluminum (will stain under veneer).
  4. Clean teeth with moist flour of pumice.
  5. Try veneers one by one, adjusting contacts if necessary. Place water on internal surface to transfer colour from tooth to veneer and for slight retention. Try all veneers on teeth together. Check for interproximal binding. If adjustment is necessary, trim contact areas with super fine diamonds and water.
  6. Fortress restorations should be bonded using luting kits (e.g., Mirage FLC Plus) containing the new generation of dentin/enamel adhesives and resin cements. This eliminates problems caused by weak liners (porcelain bonded directly to tooth). The use of a dentin adhesive minimizes post-operative sensitivity. FLC Plus resin is Vita™ shade matched and light or dual cured.
  7. In cases where the Fortress restoration is thin and translucent (e.g., veneers and onlays), the colour can be modified by using different shades of filled luting resins beneath the restoration. Thicker restorations such as inlays and crowns will require the use of dual cured resin to ensure complete cure where the curing light will not penetrate.
  8. If colour modification is necessary, try-in veneer with try-in paste or selected shade of composite. Moisten tooth and etched veneer with water to avoid inadvertent bonding. Do not leave veneer in place more than a few seconds.
  9. Once shade is confirmed, clean veneers in acetone or Mirage veneer cleaner, rinse thoroughly and blow dry. Coat all internal surfaces of Fortress restoration with layer of silane from the bonding kit.
  10. Clean teeth with oil free pumice and water or intra-oral sandblaster. Isolate teeth with cotton rolls. Etch dentin and enamel with 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds. Wash surface thoroughly and leave damp.
  11. Place extremely thin metal or mylar strips between teeth being veneered an adjacent teeth to avoid bridging.
  12. Mix A and B dentin/enamel adhesives and apply to tooth.
  13. Use unfilled resin and filled resins to place the restoration. Remove excess resin using a brush coated in unfilled resin and floss between the contacts. Light cure for 60 seconds.
  14. Once veneers are totally cured, finish margins with reciprocating diamonds or fine diamonds and finishing strips. Polish veneers with polishing paste to restore glaze.
