Full Mouth Reconstruction

"This 53 year old patient has been a patient for seventeen years. She has a history of TMJ and Musculoskeletal problems. She literally could not spend one night without her old splint (which she ground through and we remade two or three times over the years).

After my first two or three classes at LVI, she came in for her six month recare appointment, and I had her fill out Clayton Chan's Musculoskeletal Occlusal signs and symptoms form. As you could imagine, there were a lot of checks on that sheet of paper. We proceeded to do a K6-I workup and found out she was "only" 11 mm over closed. Her beginning Shimbashi was 9 mms. Her muscles were the most comfortable with a Shimbashi of 20 mms.

Aurum Ceramic/Classic made a lower removable anatomical orthotic from the myobite and fabricated an upper and lower wax up to show her what her new smile would look like. She chose the aggressive smile design. She immediately obtained relief from her headaches, upper neck pain, and other symptoms that she had been suffering from. After she was stabilized (about two months), we prepped both arches and temporized using the Siltech trays Aurum Ceramic/Classic had fabricated from the wax ups. If a picture speaks a thousand words, these photos of her speak volumes. We choose IPS Empress for all of her veneers except #18-#20 and #2-#4 where we used LVI bridges. We also chose to use Chromascop shade 040 at the cervical and 030 for the body with medium translucency and medium texture. After we seated the case, there were very few adjustments necessary. However, we tensed her, ran a scan 12 and perfected her already beautiful smile. She was ecstatic with the results! It's just like Bill Dickerson says, "We really are changing lives daily."

Speaking of results, I have been very pleased with the success that comes from working with a lab such as Aurum Ceramic/Classic. Whether it is a straight forward veneer case or a complicated full mouth restorative case, the attention to detail and the advanced aesthetics I get from Aurum Ceramic/Classic makes our office look great and makes me proud to be associated with a lab that can create such beauty. The best compliment (and the one that I love the most) is 'I can't tell that they are crowns!' That is when I know we have done our job."
