| “This patient was literally ‘terrified
of the dentist’. A friend of one of our team members, she was
eventually encouraged to visit our office for an initial consultation
and discussion. As is readily apparent from the ‘Before’ photographs,
her teeth were severely tetracycline stained, #10 was an unattractive
peg lateral and she was missing #7 and #12. During our discussion,
she stated that she was extremely self-conscious about her teeth, almost
never smiled and when she did smile, hid it behind her hand. Once we
were able to show her what could be accomplished through cosmetic dentistry,
she eagerly agreed to proceed.
Aurum Ceramic/Classic fabricated a Diagnostic Wax-up that
allowed the patient to see what her final smile was going
to look like, giving her the final confidence to go ahead.
The key to this case was to create the illusion that she
was not missing teeth while still providing a natural looking
smile. To accomplish this, we decided to make #5 look like
#6 and #6 look like #7. A similar approach was employed in
resolving the missing #12. At the same time, the #10 peg
lateral was veneered to a normal shape. In all, IPS Empress
veneers were placed on the upper 10 (#3-#14) and lower 8
(#20-#28) No change in her occlusion was required.
The final result was astounding. The patient was ecstatic
with the final result and just can’t stop smiling.
In fact, when you compare the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ full-face
photos, it’s hard to tell its even the same patient!
Thanks to Aurum Ceramic/Classic and the rest of the team
for the great work. It certainly is gratifying to have such
a profound impact on someone’s sense of well-being!”
