- Anesthetize area if indicated.
- Take a preliminary impression.
- Record gingival, body and incisal shades of teeth to be veneered.
Note any stains or characterization in the teeth.
- Reduce enamel to avoid over-contouring and to allow for 0.5
- 0.7 mm of porcelain. All line angles should be rounded and preparation
should be smooth.
- Provide a definite finish line for the technician. The Gingival
Margin of the preparation should finish at or above the gingival
margin. The Incisal Margin should finish just before the incisal
edge. Lap the incisal edge when clinical judgement dictates.
- Proximal Margins are completed labial to contact point. Preserve
contacts whenever possible. It may be necessary to prepare through
the proximal contact point when clinical conditions dictate.
- Use periphery wax to block out the lingual of contact areas
of prepared teeth. Take a final full arch impression with Panasil
vinyl polysiloxane impression material. Take an inter-occlusal
registration.
- Prepare a detailed lab prescription outlining the specifics
of shade and characterization.

| Enamel
reduction is necessary to avoid over contouring. It will be
necessary to selectively reduce more prominent areas of malaligned
or rotated teeth to align completed restorations to the corrected
contour line. On average, reduce enamel surface to allow for
a minimum of 1 mm of porcelain. A reduction greater than 1 mm
may be required in cases masking severely discolored enamel. |
