"New Concepts in Dentistry"

Dentistry that is esthetic to the patient is an important clinical objective. Today, dentists can offer more treatment options for patient’s complex problems. Until recently, few research reports attempted to study the long term use of all-ceramic materials or factors that relate to their performance without modelling data. This presentation provides a comprehensive look at failure modes and effects in bilayer all-ceramic crown-cement-tooth systems, based on original research studying the clinical behaviour of over three thousand all-ceramic restorations.

Dr. Ken Malament received his D.D.S. from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry and a specialty certificate and Master’s degree from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. He has a full time practice limited to prosthodontics in Boston that includes a dental laboratory with master dental technicians. He is a clinical professor at Tufts University and a Course Director in the postgraduate department of Prosthodontics. He is also an Examining Director and Diplomate of the American College of Prosthodontists. Dr. Malament is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, Academy of Prosthodontics, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, and the Northeastern Gnathological Society. He was on the research and development teams for two different, well-known ceramic products, is a consultant to three journals, has published extensively in dental literature and speaks often about Prosthodontic issues concerning ceramics, implants and periodontics.
