“Our patient, a 66 year old female and a 30 plus year
denture wearer, presented in our office complaining of numerous
neuromuscular symptoms. Over the past four years, her headaches
and dizziness have intensified. She has seen a number of medical
specialists and had a battery of tests including CAT scans and
MRI’s. None of the above tests were conclusive.
It is obvious from her severely worn set of dentures that she
is seriously overclosed. All muscle groups were extremely tender
to palpation. The usual protocol of K-7 scans confirmed severe
muscle stress and over 4 mm of overclosure.
Our plan was to functionally and aesthetically rehabilitate
this patient using Dr. Bob Jankelson’s neuromuscular techniques.
We followed his protocol from taking Myo-print impressions to
the K-7 final bite registration, to the use of neuromuscular
techniques in final delivery and bite adjustments (Dr. Jankelson
teaches this outstanding technique at LVI). Aurum Ceramic did
the laboratory work for all phases of the process.
Our patient not only looks much younger with her new “Neuromuscular” dentures,
but has experienced an almost total resolution of her headache
and other symptoms.”
