"The patient is a 27 year old female who had a Class II Division 2 arrangement of the anterior teeth. There is a slight crowding of the upper anteriors and the buccal corridors are deficient. After mounted diagnostic models and a smile analysis were carried out, the patient was presented with an orthodontic option and a perio-restorative option. Surgical crown lengthening was suggested to balance her gingival heights, but because of her low smile line, we agreed to leave the teeth in the Class II arrangement and forgo the surgery. She elected to have ten IPS Empress layered veneers placed. Pre-treatment tooth whitening and minor laser gingival recontouring to establish gingival symmetry was successfully accomplished prior to veneer preparation.

The definitive ceramics exhibit an exquisite combination of color and translucency. The resulting smile combines soft and hard tissue esthetics in a pleasant, balanced arrangement. The patient was delighted with the outcome and has become one of my practice's leading ambassadors."
