Empress veneers were
placed for #6-11 and #27. Teeth #9, 10 and 11 were lengthened 1, 2 and
3 mm respectively. The gap caused by the rotation of #12 was closed with
bonded composite and lengthened to match. The lower left cuspid was raised
2 mm with an Empress veneer.
The keys to success
were the provisionals and photographs. The provisionals were made from
a Diagnostic Wax-up that guided me in determining the right length given
the present width of the teeth. We had to be mindful of pressure on the
lower lip, phonetics and the envelope of function. On prep day, the provisionals
looked good and felt good. However, after the anaesthesia wore off and
with chewing, it was determined that the left lateral and cuspid had an
interference. A minor adjustment made a major difference in comfort and
improved appearance. Another impression was made of the revised provisionals
and forwarded to Aurum Ceramic.
The results are simply
fabulous. We now have the right length, surface texture, incisal translucency,
height to width proportions and horizontal plane."

Dr. Randy Mitchmore
Dr. Randy Mitchmore graduated from the University of Texas
Dental Branch in 1978. Following his graduation, he practiced dentistry
in a small rural East Texas town for 20 years. In 1998, Dr. Mitchmore
started a new practice limited to aesthetic and adhesive dentistry in
a highly urbanized part of metropolitan Houston. Over the years, he has
been "gratefully influenced by five continuums at the L.D. Pankey
Institute, Peter Dawson's complete dentistry seminars, Omer Reed, Walter
Hailey's Boot Kamp, Jack Turbyfill and the Masters program at Michael
Schuster's Center for Professional Development. The final ingredients
that have pulled it all together is the work we have done at the Las Vegas
Institute including the Anterior, Posterior and Occlusion courses and
the outstanding work from Aurum Ceramic Dental Laboratory".
